Industries

How AI applies, industry by industry. Same method, different work.

Modern Thesis is a Denver AI strategy and implementation firm for non-tech companies with $10M+ in annual revenue. These pages explain how AI applies to the work in specific industries: trades and home services, professional services, construction, facilities and building services, franchise and multi-location brands, staffing firms, hospitality and events, product companies and Colorado water rights. Each one starts the same way, with an assessment that measures where AI pays first.

Which industries do these pages cover?

  • Trades and home services: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, exteriors, garage doors, insulation, restoration, landscaping, and multi-location operators and roll-ups. Speed to lead, quotes, dispatch, follow-up, memberships and paperwork.
  • Professional services: personal injury, family and estate planning law, CPA and accounting firms, civil engineering, architecture and planning, and environmental consulting. Intake, documents, proposals, reports and firm knowledge.
  • Construction: home builders, commercial general contractors, concrete (including GPR scanning and coring) and specialty subcontractors. Bids, RFIs and submittals, job costing and project updates.
  • Facilities and building services: facilities maintenance and service companies, and commissioning and building performance firms. Work orders, inspection and Cx reports, building data and Denver and Colorado benchmarking.
  • Franchise and multi-location brands: franchisors, IV hydration, kids' education and enrichment, coffee and food, and moving and storage. Franchisee support, location reporting, bookings, scheduling and follow-up.
  • Staffing firms: candidate matching, compliant job posts, redeployment and timesheets, with Colorado's AI and pay transparency rules in view.
  • Hospitality and events: catering companies and event venues. Inquiries, proposals and BEOs, date holds, staffing and event planning.
  • Product companies: industrial tools and equipment, and pet food and consumer packaged goods. Forecasting, order entry, product content, deductions and support.
  • Colorado water rights firms: water court resumes, HydroBase research, augmentation plan accounting and a working demo on public state data.

What do these industries have in common?

The same four problems show up in almost every company we talk to. Owners and senior people are buried in admin and paperwork. New leads wait too long for a response. Leadership has no technical staff but wants practical AI with a clear return. And the company wants to grow without adding headcount at the same rate. AI helps with all four when it is fitted to how the work actually moves, connected to the software the company already uses and measured against a baseline.

Are these pages a claim of industry specialty?

No. Each page explains how AI applies to that kind of company. The examples are examples of what can be built, not past results. We bring a method, an operator's view of how businesses run and a team that builds and then stays. The industry knowledge on each page comes from public sources and from the people who do the work, which is why every engagement starts by sitting with them.

Where does Modern Thesis work?

Modern Thesis is based in the Denver area, with an office at 11001 W 120th Ave, Ste 400, Broomfield, CO 80021. We work on site across the Denver metro and Colorado, and remotely with clients across the United States. See AI consulting in Denver and AI consulting in Colorado.

How does an engagement start?

Every engagement starts with a strategic assessment. We sit with the people who do the work, map how it moves through the company today, and measure a baseline on the workflows that matter most: the time, cost and error rates of the workflows that matter most. Then we rank the opportunities by return and define the first build. If AI won't pay for itself somewhere in your business, we'll tell you.

How Modern Thesis handles this

We put AI to work inside xFusion, the 70-person company Jim co-founded, and then for several of its clients. Every industry page follows the same approach: start with the assessment, build what pays first and stay to keep it measured. Ongoing stewardship has no set end date, and you own your data, accounts, code and documentation throughout.

Questions

Does Modern Thesis specialize in one industry?

No. Modern Thesis works with non-tech companies across industries and doesn't claim a specialty. These pages explain how AI applies to the work in each industry, because the workflows, software and paperwork differ. The method stays the same: map how work really moves, measure a baseline, build what pays first and stay to keep it working.

My industry isn't listed. Can you still help?

Probably. If your company has $10M+ in annual revenue, no CTO and work that repeats across many people or jobs, the method applies. The assessment will tell you where AI pays in your business, or tell you if it doesn't. Start a conversation and describe how the work moves today.

Are these pages based on past client results?

No. The examples on these pages are examples of what can be built, not past results. Our proof so far is that we put AI to work inside xFusion, the 70-person company Jim co-founded, and then for several of its clients. We haven't published client case studies.
