Modern Thesis helps non-tech companies get real ROI from AI. Jim Coleman founded it in Denver in 2026, after more than a decade of building and running businesses.
Jim started out as a detective. The work taught him to read people, and it is where he starts in a client's business: with the people doing the work.
Since 2014 he has built and sold local service companies, become a partner in a software company that was later acquired, and run operations across a private equity fund's portfolio. Building businesses taught him that operations make or break a company. Private equity taught him to judge every change by what it adds to the value of the business.
In 2020 he co-founded xFusion, now 70 people on three continents. That is where he first put AI to work, on live operations, and then for several of xFusion's clients. He watched it take routine work off people who were already stretched and give them time back for the work they were hired to do. He started Modern Thesis to bring that to owners who want it for their own teams, and to stay with them after it's built.
He and his wife live near Denver, where they raised five children as a foster and adoptive family. They are the reason most of the work gets done.
