AI for product companies. Better forecasts, cleaner orders, faster answers.

AI can forecast demand by product and channel, read and enter orders from distributors and retailers, write and update product content across every channel and answer customer and dealer questions from your own product data. Modern Thesis helps owners of consumer and industrial product companies put that to work with the ERP and commerce tools they already run.

  • What Modern Thesis does: AI strategy, change management, implementation and ongoing stewardship, from one team.
  • How it starts: a strategic assessment that measures how the work moves today and ranks where AI pays first. See the assessment.
  • Where: based in the Denver area, with an office at 11001 W 120th Ave, Ste 400, Broomfield, CO 80021. On site across the Denver metro and Colorado, and remote anywhere in the US.
  • What it doesn't do: replace your ERP, commerce platform or demand planning software, or publish a rate card. Each engagement is priced to its scope after a first conversation.

Who is this page for?

This page is for the people who run companies that make and sell physical products, through retailers, distributors, dealers or direct to customers. The work is full of documents and data: purchase orders in many formats, retailer portals, product listings for every channel, spec sheets, warranty claims and customer questions. Forecasts drive inventory, and inventory ties up cash. AI reads, writes and forecasts at a scale small teams can't match.

Where does AI help?

AI helps most where data and documents pile up. Four areas are common:

  • Demand forecasting: forecast by product, channel and season, and flag where inventory is out of line.
  • Order entry: read purchase orders from distributors and retailers in any format and prepare them for the ERP.
  • Product content: write and update listings, spec sheets and descriptions for every channel from one source.
  • Customer and dealer support: answer product, order and warranty questions from your own data.

Which kinds of companies does this cover?

Each type of company has its own page: industrial tools and equipment and pet food and consumer packaged goods. These pages explain how AI applies to each. They are not a claim that we specialize in any of them.

What does Modern Thesis do for a company like this?

Modern Thesis covers four disciplines with one team. In strategy, Jim Coleman and the team map how the work moves through your company today. In people, we work with sales, customer service, operations and planning staff on training and incentives, so they use what gets built. In implementation, our AI specialists and Forward Deployed Engineers build the workflows and connect them to the software you already run. In stewardship, we stay to check accuracy, keep pace with new AI models and report the return against the baseline.

How does an engagement start?

Every engagement starts with a strategic assessment. We sit with the people who do the work, map how it moves through the company today, and measure a baseline on the workflows that matter most: forecast accuracy, inventory days on hand, order entry hours, time to publish product content and support tickets per thousand orders. Then we rank the opportunities by return and define the first build. If AI won't pay for itself somewhere in your business, we'll tell you.

When is something else the better choice?

If your ERP or demand planning software already forecasts and handles orders well, use it fully first. If the main need is better writing and email, the ChatGPT or Copilot licenses you already pay for may be enough; our comparison of Copilot or ChatGPT and an AI partner walks through the difference.

How Modern Thesis handles this

We put AI to work inside xFusion, the 70-person company Jim co-founded, and then for several of its clients. Jim ran operations and finance across a private equity portfolio, so we start where the numbers are clearest. Ongoing stewardship has no set end date, and you own your data, accounts, code and documentation throughout.

Questions

How do product companies use AI?

Mostly for forecasting, order entry, product content and support. AI can read purchase orders in any format, forecast demand by channel, write listings from one product record and answer questions from your own data. People still approve orders, plans and anything a customer sees.

Can AI improve demand forecasts?

Often, especially where forecasts are built by hand in spreadsheets. AI can combine sales history, seasonality, promotions and channel data into a forecast by product and channel. Planners review and adjust it, and forecast accuracy is measured against what actually sold.

Does Modern Thesis specialize in consumer products?

No, and we don't claim to. These pages explain how AI applies to product companies. We bring a method and an operator's view of the numbers.
